Physiotherapy

What is physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is a rehabilitative service that provides assessment and treatment for a vast number of conditions. Physiotherapy can help with management of chronic conditions, rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injury/deformity, education regarding functional disorders, addressing physical effects of aging, and preventing future injuries/dysfunctions.

How can physiotherapy help?

Individualized Exercise Programs

Personalized home exercise programs will be created for every single patient, no matter their main complaint when coming for physiotherapy services – this is because rehabilitative exercise is one of the most important and heavily utilized techniques in the PT toolbox. The programs may include a variety of different forms of exercise, including but not limited to range of motion, stretching, strengthening, balance, and functional training. Your program may also address components such as postural, ergonomic, or gait concerns.

Manual/Hands-On Therapy

Your physiotherapist will determine which hands-on techniques are most important for your particular condition and apply these throughout your care plan. Some of the techniques used may include soft tissue release, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization, therapist-assisted stretching, muscle energy techniques, and joint mobilizations.

Modalities

Your therapist may choose to implement a specific modality as an adjunct to your hands-on treatment. The current modalities offered at Complete Health are thermotherapy (ice and/or heat), TENS, and NMES.

Some conditions physiotherapy can help with:

  • Low Back Pain
  • Tendinopathies
  • Sprains and Strains
  • Concussion and Post Concussive Syndrome
  • Balance problems
  • Postural dysfunction
  • Pediatric Conditions
  • Chronic Pain
  • Neurological Conditions
  • Breathing Dysfunction
  • Motor Vehicle Accident injuries
  • Chronic Conditions

Personalized Care

At Complete Health, physiotherapy treatment will always take a holistic approach to your care. This means that the treatment plans will always be personalized to each individual and therefore consider all factors affecting that person’s current concerns/condition when designing their unique rehab program. This may mean your physiotherapist could recommend a multidisciplinary approach within the clinic – which may include chiropractic care, massage therapy, and acupuncture.
