What is Muscle Release Therapy (MRT)?

Muscle Release Therapy (MRT) is a form of manual therapy that places pressure on the muscle fibers to help improve muscle immobility, re-align muscle fibers, relax contracted muscles, improve circulation, and break up any scar tissue in the surrounding area.

The general goals of MRT are to reduce the patient’s pain and increase function and range of motion.

This is accomplished by breaking down the scar tissue and fascial restrictions that are usually associated with some form of trauma to the soft tissue.

This can be due to chronic stress, improper diet, lack of exercise, a pulled muscle, improper posture, or having joint restrictions.

MRT will reduce these restrictions by stretching connective tissue in an attempt to rearrange the structure of the soft tissue being treated.

The treatment may be used alone or in conjunction with other treatment.

Benefits of Muscle Release Therapy

Your body is comprised of muscles, fascia, ligaments, and tendons, these are used to protect and support the body. Injuries to these soft tissues play a significant role in the pain and dysfunction within the body.

Some injuries happen suddenly from a fall or accident, however most injuries are due to repetitive strain that is placed on the muscle, which cause micro traumas within the muscle. This can lead to excruciating pain and difficulty with movement.
